Part of relaunching a brand, whether personal or corporate, is thinking about how perceive you on a first impression. Whether that is through an in-person meeting, your website, and email signature or browsing through your social presence. Now, I am not by any means implying that I know the best way to create such first impression. For all I know I could be doing it all wrong. What I can do is offer you my perspective as I myself continue to struggle with the many aspects of building a brand and a studio.

When we decided to refresh the playard studios logo we did it in order to refine our identity and making sure our visual mark truly reflected who we are and where we’re headed. At first glance it is just a circle and a couple of lines but underneath that lays a story, a first impression, and a promise all rolled into one. . Our new design embodies the seamless blend of technology, storytelling, and innovation that defines playard studios. It’s modern, clean, and bold—just like the work we create.

Like Mies famously said, 'God is in the details', and every detail is important.  The colors, the typography, the spacing—they all play a role in communicating our values, our craft, and our mission

The Design

Our logo is more than a symbol - it's a reflection of our ethos. It fuses the letters 'p' and 'd' of playard in the type font of the Bauhaus as they rotate and create a movie reel in motion. In doing so telling a story. The circular shape symbolizes a blazing Tabby Start with the exoplanet Ethos and its asteroid belt - a homage to our sci-fi IP Replica which has become a test bed for our studio, and our deep roots in storytelling. You will probably notice that scene in our website in a stylized infrared style.

The planet eclipses the start at a 20-degree tilt - inspired by modern architectural theory, representing forward momentum and innovation. By breaking away from static symmetry, it mirrors playard studios' commitment to pushing the boundaries of post-production, embracing new technology, and redefining the creative process.

More than just an abstract form, our logo’s structure aligns with the core principles of architecture, filmmaking, and virtual production. The calculated tilt disrupts traditional balance, echoing the way virtual production challenges conventional filmmaking—blending digital and physical worlds into seamless, dynamic experiences. The circular form suggests constant motion, much like the iterative, evolving process of real-time filmmaking. Just as architecture considers structural integrity and spatial relationships, our design is rooted in precision and functionality, reinforcing our commitment to intentional, forward-thinking creativity.

understated

You may have noticed that we always write playard studios in lowercase and bold. That’s not a mistake—it’s a statement. The lowercase conveys approachability and fluidity, mirroring our ability to adapt and push creative boundaries. We are very aware at the speed at which technology moves and therefore always try to stay humbled in knowing that one of our main strengths is our adaptability and inability to be weighted down by traditional constructs and processes. To quote the great Neil DeGrasse Tyson 'Knowing enough to think you are right, but not know enough to know that you are wrong.'

Boldness is more than just a stylistic choice—it signifies clarity, assertiveness, and presence. It commands attention without being loud, just as our work speaks for itself in redefining filmmaking. This balance between approachability and strength reflects the way we merge technology with storytelling, innovation with tradition, and experimentation with purpose. Whether in real-time filmmaking or AI-driven workflows, our identity is about pushing forward while staying grounded in what truly matters: powerful, meaningful stories.

Borrowing from History

Our color choices are deeply intentional, reflecting playard studios' fusion of art, technology, and storytelling. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, we embrace function-driven design, experimentation, and the integration of emerging technologies—just as Bauhaus pioneers did in architecture and art.

Like Bauhaus designers who embraced industrial materials and mass production to create a new visual language, playard studios leverages cutting-edge filmmaking techniques, real-time technology, and AI-driven workflows to reshape storytelling in the modern age. Bauhaus revolutionized design by integrating functionality with artistic vision, removing unnecessary ornamentation in favor of clarity and purpose. Similarly, we strip away traditional filmmaking constraints, using digital tools to craft immersive narratives with unprecedented flexibility and efficiency.

By merging virtual and physical production methods, we dissolve the limitations of space, time, and logistics that once governed traditional sets. Real-time technology allows us to iterate, adapt, and visualize creative decisions instantly, much like Bauhaus artists who used modularity and industrial techniques to rethink architectural forms. AI-driven workflows further expand our ability to generate, refine, and enhance visual content, mirroring the Bauhaus philosophy of embracing emerging technology to push creative expression forward.

More Than Just a Logo

This refresh isn’t about changing who we are—it’s about making sure our brand reflects the depth of what we do while setting the stage for where we’re headed. At playard studios, we don’t just embrace the future; we build it. Our work sits at the intersection of art, technology, and storytelling, continuously pushing the limits of what’s possible in filmmaking.

Looking forward, we see a creative landscape where artificial intelligence, real-time rendering, and virtual production seamlessly integrate into the filmmaking process—not as replacements for human creativity but as amplifiers of vision and execution. We are reimagining how stories are crafted and experienced, blending physical and digital worlds to open new dimensions in storytelling.

We’re building a future where technology serves creativity—not the other way around.

Our approach is rooted in adaptability, innovation, and fearless experimentation. Whether it's using AI to streamline world-building, leveraging real-time engines to achieve final-pixel quality earlier in production, or developing new workflows that redefine collaboration, we are committed to shaping a future where storytelling knows no boundaries.

This is more than a logo; it’s a signal of intent. A mark that represents not just what we do today, but what we will create tomorrow. We’re building a future where technology serves creativity—not the other way around.
